Keshav Nagar to Kharadi River Bridge Work to Be Completed by March 2026

By Admin·

The long-awaited bridge over the Mula-Mutha river connecting Keshav Nagar to Kharadi is now in its final stages of construction, with the Pune Municipal Corporation targeting a March 2026 completion. Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar recently visited the site and directed officials to expedite the remaining work.

Round-the-Clock Construction

PMC Executive Engineer Sanjay Dharav confirmed that construction crews are working round the clock to meet the deadline. The bridge, which spans the Mula-Mutha river between Keshav Nagar on the south bank and Kharadi on the north, has been a long-pending demand from residents of both areas.

"The structural work is nearly complete. We are now focused on approach roads, railings, and surface finishing," Dharav told reporters during the Deputy CM's inspection visit. The original target was January 15, 2026, but weather-related delays pushed the timeline to March.

A Game-Changer for Connectivity

Currently, residents of Keshav Nagar, Mundhwa, and parts of Hadapsar who work at Kharadi's IT parks must take a long detour via Mundhwa-Kharadi road, adding 20-30 minutes to their daily commute during peak hours. The new bridge will provide a direct crossing, potentially cutting travel time to under 10 minutes.

The bridge is also expected to ease the chronic congestion on the Mundhwa-Kharadi road, which currently serves as the only major connection between south Pune and the Kharadi IT belt.

Impact on Surrounding Areas

Property developers in Keshav Nagar have long marketed the area's proximity to Kharadi IT parks, but the lack of a direct road connection has been a persistent pain point for homebuyers. The bridge completion is expected to boost property values in Keshav Nagar and make it a more attractive residential option for IT professionals.

Residents of Gera Adara, Marvel Fria, and other housing projects in Keshav Nagar have been among the most vocal advocates for the bridge project. "We can see Kharadi from our balconies but it takes 40 minutes to drive there during office hours," said one resident. "This bridge changes everything."

PMC has assured that the bridge will be open to all vehicles including buses, which could pave the way for new PMPML routes connecting Keshav Nagar directly to Kharadi and Chandan Nagar.
